Dillon
April 21, 1967 – January 14, 2016
Christopher "Chris" Allen Dillon, Hermitage, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Thursday (1-14-16) in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, following a courageous four week battle with the very rare adrenal cortical carcinoma. He was 48.
Chris was born in Sharon on April 21, 1967 one of five sons born to Anthony "Crabbie" and Bridget D. Donatelli Dillon.
A lifelong area resident, Chris attended Sharon Musser School and graduated from the former St. Anthony's parochial school.
He graduated in 1986 from Kennedy Christian High School and played both football and basketball for the Golden Eagles.
For nearly twenty years Chris worked at several local steel mills including the former Sharon Steel Corporation's Farrell plant, and Sawhill Tubular Division. He later became certified as a heavy equipment operator and was employed by PennDOT where he worked for the past 5 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, Farrell.
Chris enjoyed hunting when time permitted but his greatest passion was coaching and mentoring his son Nathan. He coached and served on the Board of Directors for Hickory Little League Baseball, Hickory youth basketball and football.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sharon, Farrell and Hickory
Chris was and avid bowler in his youth and competed in national competitions including one in Albuquerque,New Mexico. He also was trained in Karate and was a former member of the F.H. Buhl Club, Sharon.
When it came to his home he was very handy and meticulous, he ran a tight ship and enjoyed doing it.
He leaves his wife Lisa Marie DelliBovi whom he married May 22, 1999 in Our Lady of Fatima Church, a son Nathan Dillon, his brothers, Douglas A. Dillon and his wife Roberta, Anthony "Tony" Dillon, Sharon, Geno J. Dillon and his wife Trina, Oakdale, Pa., Bryan K. Dillon and his wife Shannon, Sharon. His nieces and nephews, Alura, TJ, Jake, Chad, Chayse, Adriana, Devon, Dante', Adriana, Massimo, and his great nephew Anthony Dillon III, his father and mother in Law, Dionigi and Delores DelliBovi, and his three brothers in law, William "Bill" DelliBovi, Dion DelliBovi and his wife Shiela, and Daniel DelliBovi and his wife Bethany.
Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (1-19-16) in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:45 Tuesday (1-19-16) in the funeral home.
Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (1-20-16) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor as celebrant. A brief prayer service will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
