Christine S. Burns, formerly a longtime resident of Andrew St., Sharon, passed away at
11:15 a.m.
Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in Hospice House, Poland, Ohio, after a brief illness.
She was 87.
Mrs. Burns was born May 28, 1928, in Indiana Harbor, IN, and moved to Sharon as an infant.
She was employed by Sharon City School District for many years as a cafeteria worker in the West Hill Elementary School; and was also a private babysitter.
Christine was a longtime active member of the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene where she was a former board member, helped with the Missionary Ladies and participated in the
Wednesday
morning prayer group.
Her husband, James P. Burns, Sr., whom she married June 23, 1951, passed away March 20, 2000.
Surviving are: a daughter, Debra J. Burns, with whom she made her home; three sons, Daniel R. Burns and his wife Diana, Mansfield, Ohio; James P. Burns, Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Warren, Ohio; and Jeffrey D. Burns and his wife Jean, Hubbard; eight grandchildren, Wendy Sutter, Chrissy Conlon and her husband Jeremy; Nathan Burns and his wife Emily; Matthew Burns; Amber Boyer and her husband Jeremy; and Jason, Jamie and Jon Burns; and 9 great grandchildren, Lauren, Parker, Ben, Alex, Nick, Lorelai, Victoria, Luke and Aria.
Besides her husband, Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Brest Johnson; her step-father, James Johnson; a brother, Donald Bell; and a sister, Audrey Anastis.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hubbard Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Cherry Lane NE, Hubbard, Ohio 44425; or Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
