Chester A. Krokoski Sr. of Farrell passed away Monday (8-31-15) in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. He was 92. Mr. Krokoski was born June 5, 1923, in Sharon, a son of Frank and Anna Wolfe Krokoski. He graduated from Farrell High School, class of 1941. Chester was a member of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, where, when he was a child, he served as an altar boy. On Oct. 28, 1950, he married the former Florence D. Bialko; she passed away March 3, 2013. Chester served in the Navy during World War II in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. While on the island of Iwo Jima, he was assigned to the Patrol Bombing Squadron VPB 108. The VPB 108's crew flew recon/bombing missions from what was then the coast of French Indonesia, the coast of China, and over mainland Japan. After his honorable discharge he gained employment with the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., Sharon, where he worked as an electrician and group leader until his retirement. Chester enjoyed bowling, golfing and fly fishing. He was a member at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell. Chester is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Kay and her husband John, Harrisville; a son, Chester Krokoski Jr. and his wife Brenda, Franklin; two grandchildren, Capt. Chester Krokoski III, Richmond Hill, Ga.; and David Krokoski, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Mirabelle and Iris Krokoski, Richmond Hill; a brother-in-law, Alfred Bialko and his wife Rebecca, Kennesaw, Ga.; and lifelong friends, Ernie and Elsie Laslow, and Patrick Mastrian. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Krokoski. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64, Box 1728, Butler, PA 16001. Calling hours: At Chester's request, calling hours will be private. Service: Private funeral service will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery chapel, Hermitage, with the Rev. Joseph C. Campbell, pastor of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, officiating. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, with military honors rendered by VFW Post 6233, West Middlesex; and Post 5286, Farrell; and Wheatland American Legion Post 432 Honor Guard. Arrangements by J.
