Obituary

Charlotte McCormick Shumate, Lillian Drive, Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (4-17-12) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 82.
She was born on July 16, 1929, in Duryea, Pa., the daughter of James and Matilda Wyworski McLusky.
She was a 1947 graduate of Sharon High School.
A private hairdresser, Charlotte operated a beauty shop from her home for 25 years and retired in 1981.
In 1981, Charlotte and her husband, John, moved to the Nashville, Tenn. area.
Her husband of 39 years, John F. McCormick, passed away on Jan. 29, 1988.
She then was employed with ADEX Homesellers where she worked as an office manager until 1996.
She was later married a second time on Oct. 26, 1996 to Harry L. Shumate Sr., whom she met in Christ Church, Nashville, Tenn. He survives at home.
Harry is a retired major with the United States Air Force and together they enjoyed traveling the world to military bases. She enjoyed traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren and was always concerned and kept informed as to what her family was doing.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, her children were her life.
She is survived by three daughters, Adrienne Dickson and her husband Bill, Tennessee, Gail Taylor and her husband Merle, Maryland, and Karen Allen and her husband Jim, Sharon; her grandchildren, John Dickson and his wife Deborah, James Dickson and his wife Dr. Jennifer, Andrew Dickson and his wife Rachel, Julie Parker and her husband James, Amy Carter and her husband David, Beth Lloyd and her husband David, Melissa Allen and her fiancé Andrew Light, and James M. Allen and his fiancée Christina Lovewell; and 12 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Pamela Hidgen and her husband Bill, Kathryn Pursley, and Kimberly Shumate, a stepson, Harry L. Shumate Jr. and his wife Debbie, eight step grandchildren and 13 step greatgrandchildren, all of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James McLusky.

Service: 10 a.m. Friday (4-20-12) in First United Methodist Church, 148 Shenango St., Sharpsville with Rev. Ralph Cotton, pastor, officiating. The family asks that everyone go directly to the church.
Interment: Orangeville Cemetery, Orangeville, Ohio.
