Stoddard
November 26, 1939 – January 28, 2025
Charles E. "Chuck" Stoddard, 85, of Pulaski, passed away surrounded by his wife and family early Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Mr. Stoddard was born November 26, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Ellwood and Beatrice (Shaw) Stoddard.
Chuck, a veteran of the U.S. Army, served from 1963 to 1965 and was stationed in South Korea for one year.
As a young man, he worked at Republic Steel in Youngstown, OH, and Mesta Machine, New Castle. He then worked on the shipping docks for McClean Trucking, and after earning his CDL, became a driver. Later in life, he drove as a car hauler for Lease Way in Lordstown, OH, and an over-the-road truck driver for Universal Rundel in New Castle.
Chuck was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish of New Castle, and formerly a longtime member of St. James the Apostle Church in Pulaski.
He loved cars and motorcycles, especially Ford Mustang Convertibles and Harley Davidson's. Chuck always looked forward to spending time with his family at their camp in Tionesta, PA. He also enjoyed traveling with his camper to various campgrounds with his wife, Marlene.
His wife of 61 years, Marlene (McCormick) Stoddard, whom he married September 21, 1963, survives at home.
Chuck is also survived by three sons, Jeffrey Stoddard (fiancé, Nicole McClain), of Pulaski, Michael Stoddard (Vanetta), of Pulaski, and Charles Stoddard (fiancé, Ashley Hogue), of Sharpsville; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Currie; and a grandson, Michael Stoddard.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (1-30-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday (1-31-25) in Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary's Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. Aaron Kriss, as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Union Twp., where the New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
