A funeral service will be held on Saturday for Charles Staul, 2118 Carolyn St., Hermitage, He passed away peacefully of natural causes at 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday (5-20-09) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. He was 91.
Mr. Staul was born February 25, 1918 in Farrell the son of Dominick and Mary Fortine Stovola.
He attended Farrell Schools.
He was employed for 34 years at the former Sharon Steel Corporations Farrell plant where he had worked as a craneman and retired in 1981.
A decorated veteran of WWII, Mr. Staul served with the United States Navy in the European Theater of operations and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1945 with numerous medals and merit citations.
He was a member of the Hickory Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6166, Hermitage.
His wife the former Thera E. Dout, whom he married August 30, 1944, passed away on January 22, 2009.
He is survived by his two sons, Charles A. Staul and his wife Delores, Hermitage, and Gregory A. Staul and his wife Debbie, Sharpsville; a sister, Bette Dugan, Pace, FL; three brothers, Harry Staul and his wife Marilyn, Hermitage, Richard Staul, Austintown, OH and Jerry Staul and his wife JoAnn, Hermitage; four grandchildren, Shawnda Boles, Faith Vaughn, Deanna Lombardo and Ashley Staul; five great grandchildren, Melodi McKendrick, Bailey Busco, Bradley Boles and Nathen and Kylie Vaughn.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his five brothers, Joseph, John and Louis Staul and two infant brothers and an infant grandson, Bradley Staul.
