Charles A. Sanata of Hermitage passed away Saturday evening, April 21, 2018, in his home. He was 86.
Mr. Sanata was born May 28, 1931, in Sharon, a son of Angelo and Margaret (Rotunno) Sanata. From them he learned love of family and a strong work ethic, two things he practiced all of his life. He attended Sharon High School then spent 15 years at Shenango, Inc., Sharpsville. Later, Charles was employed as a die caster for 30 years at Packard Electric, Warren, OH and retired in 1994.
Charles was a member and an usher at St. Joseph's Church, Sharon. He was an avid golfer and was the assistant coach at Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School, Sharon. Charles was also a member of the local #717 International Union of Electrical Workers, Warren. He was a huge fan of Notre Dame football and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His family knew not to call during those football games.
He is survived by wife of 67 years, the former Hazel A. Thompson, whom he married on March 31, 1951; three daughters, Yvonne M. Belletini, Mich.; Debra L. Napolitan (Carmen), Lancaster, PA; and Angela L. Green (Tom), Sharon; three sons, Charles M. Sanata (Marylou), Fall Church, VA; Gary J. Sanata, Centerville, VA; and Christopher W. Sanata (Jessica), Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Albert Sanata (Ellen), Brookfield, OH; and Harry Sanata, Hubbard, OH; seventeen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Michael Belletini; three sisters, Victoria Donak, Marie Testani and Rosemary Moses; and six brothers, Peter, James and Jospeh Peluso; and Anthony, Lawrence and William Sanata.
Charles will be remembered as a kind and remarkable man. He showed us a devotion to family and a humor that will forever be unmatched. Thank you, We love you and hold you forever in our hearts.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Buhl Farm Golf Course "Dum Dum", 1290 Forker Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146. Charles taught many young boys how to love the game of golf on that course.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7p.m. Tuesday (04/24/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday (04/25/2018) in St. Joseph's Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, with Rev. Thomas Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
