Obituary
Charles J. O'Neil, Enon Valley (Lawrence County), PA and Bonita Springs, FL; formerly of Sharon, PA passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday (8-11-10) in the Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver, PA. He was 88.
Mr. O'Neil was born June 4, 1922 in Sharon a son of the late Charles J. and Barbara Fromm O'Neil.
He attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Sharon High School.
Chuck served with the US Navy during WW II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Bonita Springs.
He began his career in 1946 with the former Montgomery Ward & Co., Sharon, as the shoe department manager. He continued with the company, working in many capacities throughout the eastern region, and retired in 1983 as the Metro District manager in Detroit, Michigan after 35 years of service.
Chuck served as president of the Retail Merchants division of the Chamber of Commerce, Detroit. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Darlington, PA; St. Leo's Church, Bonita Springs, FL; and a former member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Washington DC. Chuck enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of the Spanish Wells Country Club, Bonita Springs; and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elk's, Lodge 103, Sharon.
Surviving are: his devoted wife of 63 years, Jeanne C. (Reilly) O'Neil, whom he married September 21, 1946 in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; two sisters-in-law, Lucille O'Neil, Beaver, PA; and Sally Reilly, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis X. O'Neil and Dr. Robert J. O'Neil; two sisters, Evelyn Grove and Virginia Weaver; and a brother-in-law, Jack Reilly.
