Obituary

Charles W. 'Bill' McQuiston, Sr., 79, of 816 Carson St., New Castle, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 5:10 a.m. Thursday (10-20-11).

Mr. McQuiston was born May 9, 1932 in New Wilmington, the son of Howard M. and Mildred C. Ruby McQuiston.

A lifelong resident of New Castle, he graduated in 1950 from New Castle High School.

He retired from the Packard Electric Company, Warren, OH where he was employed for 31 years as a Tool & Die Maker. While working at Packard, he was a member of the International Union of Electrical workers local 717, also Warren.

He enjoyed the outdoors and served as a Deputy Commissioner with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 5 years. Bill was a member of the Croton United Methodist Church, the Mahoning New Castle Masonic Lodge No. 243 Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley, the Eintracht Singing Society,and the American Legion Perry S. Gaston Post 343, all of New Castle.

A decorated war veteran, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on January 28, 1955 with both the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good conduct Medal.

His wife the former Barbara Jean Gribben, whom he married April 11, 1953, passed away on July 2, 2011.

He is survived by his four daughters, Renee DiGia and her husband Dennis, New Castle, Jai Badger and her husband Jeffrey, Grove City, Barbara Flora and her husband, Richard, New Castle and Judith LaMarco, Hummelstown, PA; his son, Charles W. 'Bill' McQuiston, Jr. New Castle; two sisters, Joan Zuraski and her husband Harry, New Castle and Patricia Diana and her husband Richard, Kentucky; a brother James McQuiston and his wife Nancy, New Castle, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St.

A service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (10-22-11) in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Ronald A. Wanless officiating.

Entombment will follow in Graceland Cemetery Mausoleum.
