Charles D. Leise, 88, of Slippery Rock Twp., passed away Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025, under hospice care in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Mr. Leise was born April 3, 1937, in Indiana, PA, a son of the late Harry "Cap" and Mary Ellen (Miller) Leise.
Charles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on November 1, 1954. He was stationed and served in the Pacific prior to being honorably discharged on August 26, 1958.
Charles worked in the shipping department and as a machine operator at Rockwell International Spring Division. He was also the owner and operator of the Dutch Isle Dairy Bar in New Wilmington, PA.
A 32nd Degree Free and Accepted Mason, Charles became a Mason on February 9, 1965 and was recently recognized as a 60-year-member of Ellwood City Lodge, 599. Additionally, he served as an officer of the Wilmington Lodge, 804, from 1998 to 2002. Charles was also a member of American Legion Post 343 of New Castle and the National Rifle Association.
Charles is survived by three grandchildren, Matthew J. Leise (Cheyenne), of Goldsboro, NC, Kathryn J. Shayer, of Wadsworth, OH, and Justin L. Leise, of Pulaski, PA; a brother, Richard Leise, of Argile, NY; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Leise, Jr., Blakely Leise, and Jackson Shayer.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Syling) Leise; two sons, Donald Lee Leise and James Leroy Leise; two sisters, Marion Campbell and Thelma Heasley; and a brother, Harry "Bud" Leise.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday (6-21-25) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
Military honors will be conducted at noon by the New Castle Area Honor Guard followed by a memorial service officiated by Rev. Matthew Bupp.
