Charles H. 'Hud' Kerins, New Castle, Pa., formerly of Lackawannock Township, passed away unexpectedly at 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday (3-4-09) at his residence. He was 63.
He was born on January 26, 1946 in Sharon the son of Lawrence and Margaret Davis Kerins.
He graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1965.
Hud, as he was known by his close friends and family, was employed for 20 years at Sharon Tube Corporation.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.
He was a decorated veteran of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier and received the National Defense, and Good Conduct Medal in 1969 with his honorable discharge.
He is survived by his two sons, Bray Charles Kerins and his wife Tracie L., Mercer; Douglas Lawrence Kerins, Sharon; three brothers, Larry Kerins and his wife Linda, Lackawannock Township; Robert Kerins and his wife Janet, Ga.; and Kim Kerins of Newport News Va.; two grandchildren Bria, and Xackery Kerins; his wife Cheryl Kerins of West Middlesex; and his two step granddaughters Mandy and Shelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours: At Hud's request, there will be no calling hours.
Services: A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday.
Cremation: In the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon.
