Charles A. Hicklin, 77, of Hermitage, passed away Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019, in his home.
Mr. Hicklin was born November 3, 1941, in Bedford, PA, a son of the late Arthur and Olive (Foor) Hicklin. He attended Hickory High School and began his working career as a truck driver. Later, Charles followed his family tradition of working as an auto body technician and was employed in the body shop at the former Sharon Chrysler Plymouth and Ken's Auto Body Shop, Sharpsville. Charles relocated to Oklahoma where he owned and operated a body shop before moving back to the Shenango Valley and began working for Graham Stamping, Co., Hermitage.
Charles was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting and fishing.
Charles also enjoyed bowling and spent much of his spare time working on cars and doing bodywork.
His wife, the former Dawn L. Hoffman, whom he married November 11, 1961, passed away February 18, 2014.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary M. Westover and her husband Paul, of Hubbard, OH; two sons, Cecil G. Hicklin, of Hermitage; and Julius A. Hicklin and his wife Renee, of West Middlesex; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a twin sister, Dorothy Zudiak, of Hermitage; and a brother, Herb Hicklin and his wife Wanda, also of Hermitage.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nichol and Charles Hicklin; a brother, Cecil Gene Hicklin; and a sister and three brothers, all in infancy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday (01/11/2019) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday, in the funeral home, with Rev. John Trojak, pastor of First Baptist Church, Sharon, officiating.
