Obituary

Charles H. Davies, formerly of Carolyn St.,Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 8:05 a.m. Friday (8-27-10) in Juniper Village at the Shenango Inn, Sharon , where he was a resident for the past year and a half. He was 83.

Mr. Davies was born October 25, 1926 in Sharon a son of the late Thomas and Pearl Gimbel Davies.

He was a lifelong area resident and a 1944 graduate of Sharon High School .

Following high school, Chuck served as a signalman with the US Navy during WW II in the S. Pacific. He retired in 1985 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he was employed for 38 years. He also worked at the former Ideal Bakery and the former Magnotto's Market, both in Farrell.

A devout catholic, Chuck was a lifelong active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church in Farrell where he was an usher, lecturer and a CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) instructor. He was also a member of the churches Holy Name Society and was honored as its 'Man of the Year' in 2002. Chuck was an Altar Apostle for the Thursday evening Holy Hour at Our Lady of Fatima for more than fifty years and was also a member of the Blue Army of Fatima and the Knights of Columbus, Farrell Council.

He was extremely dedicated to his church and family and, along with his wife, looked forward to family dinners and gatherings.

During his retirement, Chuck enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer. He recorded a hole-in-one in 1996 and attended The Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin , Ohio with family members for many years.

His wife, the former Frances R. 'Tootsie' Palermo , whom he married October 29, 1947 in the former St. Elizabeth Church in Farrell, passed away October 10, 2002.

Surviving are: six daughters, Sandy Tone and her husband Dennis, Atlanta, GA; Mary Weaver and her husband Glenn, Sheffield, PA; Monica Beith and her husband Thomas, Dublin, Ohio; Jeannie Brogan and her husband Tim, Howland, Ohio; Bernadette Davies, Sharon; and Lori Hatzialexiou and her husband Steve, also Howland, Ohio; five sons, Charles Davies and his wife Pamela, St. David's PA; Richard Davies and his wife Mary, Hubbard, Ohio; Thomas Davies and his wife Vicky, Sharpsville; Joseph Davies and his wife Tina, also Sharpsville; and Anthony Davies and his wife Linda, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren, Robbie, Brian, Kristi, Michelle, Michael, Gabby, Dominique, Mat the w, Eugena, Peter, Natalie, Victoria, Tommy, Christian, Ian, Nichole, Liam, Daniel, Jack, Maria, Ilias and Thomas; five great grandchildren, Nathanial, Darley, Brayden, MaKenna and Sophia; a brother, Harold Davies and his wife Ann, Sarasota, FL; and several nieces and nephews, including Cathy Volpe of Youngs!

Besides his parents and wife, Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl 'Sis' Johnson; and two brothers, Carl and William Davies.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday (8-30-10) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, 601 Roemer Blvd. , Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the W. Middlesex VFW and the Wheatland American Legion Honor Guard. 12002-2
Jack E. Davis of Lower Idlewild Dr. New Castle passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Golden Hill Nursing Home. He was 90.

Mr. Davis was born December 3, 1921 in DuBois, PA a son of Sam and Lillian Karnes Davis.

He was a 1938 graduate of Mt. Jackson High School.

Following high school, Jack enlisted in the United States Army. During World War II, Jack was a Fighter Pilot, flying the P51 Mustang. He was involved in the Air Offensive, Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Germany Campaigns.

Jack retired from Bell Telephone Company after more than 30 years as a planning engineer.

Mr. Davis enjoyed crossword puzzles. Earlier in life, he enjoyed traveling with his wife.

His wife, Dorothy C. Campbell Davis, whom he married May 26, 1943, passed away October 5, 1999.

Jack is survived by, a daughter, Patricia and her husband David Robison of New Castle; 2 grandchildren, Lee and her husband Thomas Dockstader and Amanda Robison; a great grandson Duncan Dockstader.

Besides his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Charles 'Ed' Davis.

Jack always wanted to be remembered in life, not in death. Keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St. New Castle, PA 16101.
