January 14, 1930 – December 24, 2015
Charles Howard Burnett of Masury, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 4:55 p.m. in his residence. He was 85.
Mr. Burnett was born in Sharon on January 14, 1930, the son of the late Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Fromm Burnett.
He was a graduate of Hickory High School. Following high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Navy.
He retired from Sharpsville Roofing Company where he was employed as a roofer and worked with sheet metal. Earlier in life, Charles was employed at Grimms Awning Inc.
Mr. Burnett was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He was a proud member Knights of Columbus where he was a grand knight, a member of Local 33 Sheet Metal Workers International Association. Charles enjoyed working on roofs, gardening and most importantly he loved spending time with his family.
His wife, Marie A. Altiere Burnett, whom he married August 18, 1956, passed away on June 2, 2012.
Charles is survived by 3 children, Debra (Perry) Lucas of Seminole, FL, Charles Burnett Jr. of Florida, and Rosemarie O'Brien of Vienna, OH; 3 grandchildren, Gina Marie Morocco, Christopher Robert O'Brien, and Vanessa Marie O'Brien; 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and John Burnett, and 2 sisters Delores, Mary.
Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Church 40 S. Irvine St. Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass in Sacred Heart Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Henry Andrae.
Entombment will take place in St. Rose Mausoleum where full military honors will be rendered.
