Charles William Brei

Charles “Chuck” William Brei, 77, of New Castle, PA, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away Thursday evening, April 29, 2026, in UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Mr. Brei was born on May 9, 1948, in Framingham, Massachusetts, a son of Charles and Betty Brei. After graduating from high school, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After his service, Chuck spent time in Canada working in the service industry on the Toronto-Vancouver train, The Canadian, before retiring to Michigan, and ultimately to Pennsylvania.

A creative man, Chuck had a talent for writing both poetry and music. He also enjoyed a night out with friends playing darts and had great affection for his beloved kitty cat, Chelan, who is being rehomed with the assistance of friends and the ASPCA.

Chuck is survived by his daughter, Susannah Brei, of Federal Way, WA; his son, Christopher L. Gentile, of Georgetown; TX; and his former wife, Betty J. Gentile, of Georgetown, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
