Obituary

Charles "Bobby" Thomas, 85, of Hermitage passed away in his home Saturday morning, July 29, 2023, with his loving family by his side.


Mr. Thomas was born November 23, 1937, in Sharon, a son of the late William and Martha (Reiter) Thomas.  Bobby attended Sharon High School.  After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg.  He was honorably discharged after serving during the Korean War.


After his military service, Bobby learned the HVAC and Refrigeration trade from his brother William, working for many businesses in the Shenango Valley.  Later, he started working for Sharon Steel, advancing to the position of superintendent of the utilities department before retiring in 1993.


In April 1997, he married the love of his life, Melissa Grossman. Together they enjoyed 26 years of marriage.


A 32nd Degree Free and Accepted Mason, he was a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Lodge #243 council chapter consistory of New Castle, PA.  Bobby was also a member of the Kedron Lodge #389 of West Middlesex, and Shenango Valley VFW Post #1338, Sharon.  Bobby enjoyed hunting at his camp in Tionesta and fishing in Canada.  But most of all, Bobby loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.


He is survived by his wife, Melissa; a daughter, Tracy Williams (David), of Transfer; two step-daughters, Kim Grexa (Tim), of Hartford, OH, and Jessica Wagner (Craig), of London, KY; a son, Robert Thomas (Renee), of Transfer; and 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.


In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ann Thomas; a sister, Phyllis Fisher; and two brothers, William and Edward Thomas.
