Dr. Charles Edwin Beall was born in Mapletown, PA, on April 5, 1938. He went to be with his Lord on December 4, 2025, after complications from a fall.

Charles was the son of the late Max and Agnes (Zabroski) Beall. He graduated from Waynesburg College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry.

Upon graduation from dental school in 1965, Charles entered the United States Air Force as a Dental Officer with the 817th SAC Medical Group stationed at Pease Air Force Base, Portsmouth NH. Dr. Beall opened his dental practice in Sharon in 1967 and retired on December 30, 2011.

Charles was a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, Mercer County Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Society of Forensic Odontology, the Disaster Identification Team of Pennsylvania Dental Association, DMORT Region 3 (Federal Mass Disaster Recovery and Identification Team), and was also a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

Dr. Beall participated in the recovery and identification of victims of the USAir flight #427 crash in Hopewell, PA, in 1994; the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack in Shanksville PA; and Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 in New Orleans, LA. Charles served as Deputy Coroner from 1999 to September 2019 in Mercer County, PA, and as a Forensic Odontology Consultant for various coroners throughout Pennsylvania.

Charles was an avid hunter, fly fisherman, and instrument-rated private pilot who flew his own airplane for 25 years. He was also a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as an adult Sunday School teacher and elder.

After he retired from dental practice, Charles became an accomplished cook, and his adult children loved coming home to enjoy their dad’s meals. Charles also took up watercolor painting, and leaves behind a portfolio whose pictures demonstrate his appreciation for solitude and the outdoors.

Charles is survived by his wife and best friend of 63 years, Beverly Long Beall, and by their five children: Kathleen Sue Colquhoun and husband Brian, Hermitage, PA; Dr. Elizabeth Ann Beall, Hermitage, PA; Dr. Jeffrey Charles Beall and wife Dr. Katrina Higgins, Australia; Mark Richard Beall, Cedar Springs, MI; and Rebecca Lynn Beall, Uniontown, PA.

With his wife Beverly, Charles was the proud grandparent of nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Charles is also survived by his friend and brother, Dr. John A. Beall and wife Arlene of Butler, PA. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Agnes Beall, and his brother, James L. Beall.

Charles Beall was greatly loved by his family and friends, and by his dear dog, Bentley. Charles’ humor, intelligence, steadfastness, quiet strength, and faithful care will be deeply missed.
