A funeral service will be celebrated Saturday for M. Cecelia Cerroni. Ms. Cerroni passed away peacefully on Tuesday (1-18-11) at 8:50 a.m. surrounded by loved ones at her home in Madison, Ohio after a brief illness. She was 68.
Ceil, as she was known by family and friends, was born in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on June 8, 1942.
She was the daughter of James J. Cerroni and Margaret Ann Monteson Cerroni.
Ceil graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1960 and Slippery Rock State College in 1964. Ceil began her teaching career in 1964 as a first grade teacher in Spencer Elementary in Geneva, Ohio. She retired in 1998 after thirty-four years of teaching at Spencer Elementary in that position. Friends and fellow teachers acclaim that, 'Ceil's compassion for her students was extraordinary. She believed in each student and their ability to succeed.' Ceil mentored many educators and students. Ceil lived her life in service of others. She was a positive role model for all who had the good fortune to know her, and her community benefited greatly from her charitable donations of both time and money.
Ceil is survived by brothers and sisters: Vincent Cerroni of Erie, Pa.; Douglas Cerroni of Farrell, Pa.; Sandra Morgan Evans (Kirk) of Hartford, Oh.; Regina Mayerchak (Tom) of Linwood, N.C.; James Cerroni, Jr. (Wendy) of Sharon, Pa.; Lydia Cerroni of Erie, Pa.; and Daniel Cerroni (Dorothy) of Sharon, Pa. Ceil is survived by nieces and nephews: Shawn, Jason, Keith, Nick, Maria, Jessica, Danielle, Kyle, Dana, Dylan, Darienne, and Michael.
Ceil was preceded in death by both parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethany House Services in care of Sr. Mary Stanton at 18533 Fairmount Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio.
