Obituary

Catherine S. Minnick, formerly of Minnick Drive, Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday (3-16-10) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she resided for the past 15 years. She was 95.

Mrs. Minnick was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Oil City, a daughter of John and Jane W a l s h Stephenson.

Moving to the Shenango Valley as a child, she attended St. J o s e p h Parochial Grade School and was a 1934 graduate of Sharon High School. Mrs. Minnick was a graduate of the former Shenango Valley Commercial Institute, Sharon.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a private secretary for 11 years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. She was also a member of Hermitage Woman's Club, where she was active in the drama department and was a volunteer at John XXIII Home for many years. Catherine enjoyed needlepoint and walking.

Her husband, Francis I. Minnick, whom she married Nov. 9, 1946, passed away Feb. 13, 1995.

Surviving are: four sons, David F. Minnick and his wife Joyce, Valparaiso, Ind.; Robert F. Minnick and his wife Patricia, Orlando, Fla.; Daniel J. Minnick and his wife Marsha, Madison, Ga.; and John H. Minnick and his wife Barbara, Severna Park, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Minnick, Paul Minnick, Kristin Minnick, Brandon Minnick, Catherine Gray, Lisa McGee, Anna Mayhew, Phillip Minnick, Arthur Minnick and Luke Minnick; a great-granddaughter, Michaela Anne Minnick; a brother, Frank Stephenson and his wife Sarah 'Sally,' Hermitage; a brother-in-law, George 'Bud' Anglin, Sharpsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Winifred Anglin, Mary Jane Stephenson, Ellen Daly and Margaret Anderson; and a brother, John Stephenson.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146; or John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
