Obituary

Funeral will be Friday for Catherine Iacino, Farrell, who passed away at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 86. Catherine was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Farrell, a daughter of Saverio and Anna Fotia Perre. She was raised in Farrell and graduated from Farrell High School in 1946. A homemaker, she belonged to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Parish, Farrell. She enjoyed a good game of cards and belonged to several card clubs through the years. Her greatest joy was found when surrounded by family, especially at the holidays. She married her husband, former Farrell Mayor Peter P. Iacino Jr., on Sept. 1, 1947; he passed away July 11, 1997. She leaves two daughters, Patricia Barrett, Hermitage, and Lu Ann Iacino, Farrell; three sons, Samuel J. Iacino, Farrell; and Peter P. Iacino III and his wife Lorraine, and Mark D. Iacino and his wife Katie, all Hermitage; and a son in-law, Arthur Barrett, Hermitage. She leaves her to cherish her memory, a brother and sister-in-law Joseph & Lucille Perriello, Farrel; six grandchildren Kimberly Bland and her husband Brian; Michelle Bower and her husband Matt; Jeffrey Barrett; and Rocco, Ava and Emma Iacino; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Patrick and Joshua Bower; and Gabrielle and Alana Bland; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Frances Grande and Marie Sonoga. Calling hours: Private calling hours for her family from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today (5-22-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Services: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann's Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Monsignor Salvatore P. Mitchell, retired priest, as celebrant. A brief prayer service will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to leaving for the church. Interment: St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Hermitage.
