Catherine "Cathy" D. Garnack, 86, of Hermitage, passed away Sunday evening, January 31, 2021, in Garden Way Place, Hermitage of long-term complications due to Covid-19.

Cathy Garnack was born December 15, 1934, in Sharon, a daughter of the late William F. and Irene Murphy. She was a 1952 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Mercyhurst College, Erie.  Her husband, Peter Garnack, whom she married September 14, 1957, passed away January 31, 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, Cathy was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Moran.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Garnack and her partner, Patricia A. Lewis, of Bolingbrook, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Cathy was a member of the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage where she loved participating in all forms of religious education and retreats.

Cathy loved talking with people and celebrating with friends.  She will be remembered for her generosity and willingness to help others. For more than four decades she volunteered at Sharon Regional Medical Center and UPMC Horizon, Shenango Valley hospitals.  She enjoyed her final years at Garden Way Place where she actively participated in social events and continued to help residents and visitors as a Resident Ambassador.

Deepest thanks are extended to the staff of Garden Way who cared for Cathy like family, and to Kindred Hospice for the comfort they provided in her final days.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Prince of Peace, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121.

Due to health concerns, there are no services.

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
