Catherine J. Fabian, 100, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Saturday July 23, 2016 in Golden Hill Nursing Home.

Mrs. Fabian was born June 3, 1916, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Eli M. and Julia Anna Trushel Byler. A lifelong resident of Union Twp., she graduated from Union High School in 1934.

Katie, as she was known to her family and friends, married Rhyne H. Fabian on April 27, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Katie retired from the Union Twp. School District as the Head Baker and Cook.

Mrs. Fabian was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish, where she also belonged to the Little Flower Club, the 500 Card Club and volunteered at the church bingo.

She is a former member of the Food Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of Union Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.

Surviving are: one daughter, Mary C. Covelli and her husband, Fred, Murrysville, PA; one son, Raymond H. "Skip" Fabian and his wife, Patricia, Youngstown, OH. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband, Katie was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Byler and a sister, Mary Byler Patton.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 3208 Wilmington Rd, Suite B, New Castle, PA 16105, or Three Rivers Hospice and Palliative Care, 26 Nesbitt Road Suite 200, New Castle PA 16105.

In keeping with Katie's wishes, all services will be held privately.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls Street.
