Catherine Barker of 1000 Gail Drive, Hermitage, passed away at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 84.
Mrs. Barker was born June 26, 1927, in Sharon, a daughter of Dymtro 'Mike' Tylowski and Mary Kurylak Tylowski.
A lifelong area resident, she attended Hickory High School in Hermitage.
Kay was a homemaker and a former member of St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Sharon.
She was an active member of the Patagonia Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary during the 1950s.
Kay enjoyed maintaining her home, flower and vegetable gardening and making rag rugs on her loom. Her family was extremely important to her; she loved to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are: her husband, John G. Barker, whom she married Oct. 28, 1950; a daughter, Mary Grace Fiscus and her husband John, Sharpsville; a son, Matthew J. Barker and his wife Debra, Hermitage; eight grandchildren, Cassidy Jo and Alyssa Barker; Cortney and Nicole Baker; Maurice List and his wife Sally; Conor Brant; and Heather and Jon Fiscus; four great-grandchildren, Carleigh, Caley 'K', Jacob and Bennett; and two sisters, Arlo Sirochman and her husband Paul, Brookfield; and Norma Jean Barker, Hermitage.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Thomas Talowsky; and four sisters, Helen Stingis, Evelyn Zurawsky, Ann Talowsky and Nellie Jamieson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
