Carter T. Johnston, 84, of Sharpsville, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Johnston was born on July 9, 1939, in Grove City, PA, a son of the late Carter and  Mary Ellen (Carahan) Johnston. He was a 1957 graduate of Grove City High School and served in the US Army.

He spent more than 50 years in the steel industry, working at Sharon Steel, Caparo and retired from NLMK as the general manager in the Quality and Metallurgical Engineering department. His career took him worldwide, allowing him to visit numerous countries.

An avid outdoorsman, his true passion was hunting.

He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Musone, whom he married in 1994; two children, Ruth Wagg and her husband Eric, Greely, CO, and Wendy Hilson and her husband John, Meadville; three grandchildren, Chloe and Jack Hilson, and Logan Gills; two sisters, Becky Johnston and her husband Del, Scottsdale, AZ, and Jenny Greer, Hermitage; and a brother, Steve Johnston, Gibsonia, PA.

In addition to his parents, Carter was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Gills and her son Kevin.
