Carolyn Marie (Chiccarino) Perfilio, 479 Boyd Dr., Sharon, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past two weeks. She was 94.
Mrs. Perfilio was born February 8, 1918 in Sharon, a daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Pandolfi Chiccarino.
She was a 1935 graduate of Farrell High School and an alumna of Chevy Chase (MD) Junior College.
During college, she and fellow classmates enjoyed tea on the White House lawn with, then first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.
An exceptional homemaker, Carolyn was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell.
Her husband of more than 53 years, Attorney Anthony Perfilio, whom she married April 11, 1942, passed away December 10, 1995.
Surviving are: three sons, Dr. Andrew M. Perfilio, Naples, Florida; Attorney Anthony J. and his wife Eldora Perfilio, Beavercreek, Ohio; and Mark A. Perfilio, a Sharon realtor; two grandchildren, Andrew Perfilio and his wife Belen, Chicago, Illinois; and Dr. Adrienne Edwards and her husband Dr. Howard Edwards, Omaha, Nebraska.
She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Florence Nichols, Hermitage; and Rose Vitaterna and her husband Raymond, Huntington Beach, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, John and Jerry Chiccarino; and a sister, who died in infancy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: next to her husband in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
