Carole Jean Dexter, 83, of New Castle passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018, in her residence.

Mrs. Dexter was born February 14, 1935, in New Castle, to the late Francis J. and Helen M. (Gurgacz) Schrantz.

She was a lifelong area resident and a 1953 graduate of New Castle High School.

Carole was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish, New Castle.

Earlier in life, she enjoyed being outdoors planting flowers in her garden.

Carole loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her husband, Kenneth W. Dexter, whom she married May 21, 1955, preceded her in death February 16, 2016.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mary Ann (John) Grinzivich, Linda Tommelleo and Helen (John) Ferry, all of New Castle; a son, Ronald (Caryl) Dexter, of Sharon; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley A. Settle, of Volant, and Clara L. Litwinovich, of Edinburg; a brother, Francis J. Schrantz, Jr., of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Friday (5-25-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle .

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday (5-26-18) in St. Mary's Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. William Siple, parochial vicar, as celebrant.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, New Castle.
