Carol Ann Matthews

Carol Ann Matthews, 67, of New Castle, passed away Saturday January 31, 2026 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Ms. Matthews was born March 18, 1958 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Harvey Christian I, and Della Grannis. She attended New Castle Area High School and later Erie Business Center South, where she earned an Associate's Degree.

A devout Christian, Carol was a member of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center, New Castle.

She enjoyed taking trips to the casino, playing cards, and Most of all; Carol cherished the time she spent with her family.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Aisha Sullivan of Youngstown. OH, and Marleah Matthews (Joshua Fields) of New Castle; two sons, Elonzo Matthews Jr. (Lacey) of Aliquippa, and Robert Sullivan Jr. (Chandra) of Youngstown, OH. Three sisters, Lucille Jackson, Martha Holmes, and Delphine Christian, all of New Castle; two brothers, Rev. Frank Christian (Celina) of Youngstown, OH, and Clifford Altman, of New Castle; 24 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 6 godchildren; with a host of Family and Friends, and her special friend Robert Sullivan Sr. "Sap".

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey Christian II, John Christian, and William Altman Sr; and two sons, William Matthews Sr., and Dana Matthews Sr.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Thursday 2-12-26 at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

A funeral service will be held immediately following at 12 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Jamie E. Holmes Sr., officiating
