IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol V.
Kern
February 5, 1940 – February 23, 2025
Carol V. Kern, 85, formerly a longtime resident of Case Ave. in Sharon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones late Sunday evening, February 23, 2025.
Mrs. Kern was born February 5, 1940, at the family home in Jackson Center, PA, a daughter of the late Abraham Lincoln and Mary Virgina (Ertel) Vredenburg. She was a 1958 graduate of Lakeview High School in Stoneboro, PA.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, George E. Kern, on November 4, 1961, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2003.
Prior to becoming a mother, she worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone and as the volunteer coordinator at Farrell Osteopathic Hospital. Carol also worked as a saleswoman for House of Lloyd, earning a national sales award presented to her while on a company trip to Hawaii.
Carol had a large personality that would enter the room even before she did. Unashamed to live her life in her own authentic way, she was blessed with the "gift of gab" and a love for people – never once meeting a stranger. Carol had a passion for arts, crafts, and decorating, and was easily found at all local craft shows. Most of all, she loved children. Long before becoming a parent, she considered herself a neighborhood or work mother to many of her "kids". Carol enjoyed nothing more than giving birth to her son, Tim, after many years of trying. Once her son entered her life, she considered him and all of his friends as her own. Late in life, even as her health declined, Carol was known for her quick wit and sense of humor – often carrying her through life's challenges.
Carol is survived by her son, Timothy Kern, and his girlfriend, Samantha Curry, and her daughters, Zelayna and Talia Curry. She is also survived by her brother, Gene Vredenburg (Rosalynd), of Georgetown, GA.
The family would like to thank the staff of QLS Mercer and Three Rivers Hospice for their wonderful attention and care during her final years.
