Carol E. Gilson, 89, a longtime resident of Hermitage passed away peacefully Sunday evening, May 19, 2024, in Clepper Manor CCRC, Sharon.

Mrs. Gilson was born October 31, 1934, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy (Sumner) Brauchle. She was a 1952 graduate of Farrell High School where she was Homecoming Queen her senior year.

A homemaker, Carol took pride in keeping an immaculately clean home, and was an exceptional cook and baker.

Carol was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon.

Her husband, Alfred "Al" Gilson, whom she married in 1971, preceded her in death in 2013.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Harper; and a son, Keith Ricciardi (Richell), all of Hermitage; four grandchildren, Tera Ricciardi (Michael) and Keith Ricciardi (Devon), and Guy Harper and Devin Piccirilli; and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Sophia, Giuliana Ricciardi.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Pearl O'Hara; and a brother, Earl Brauchle, Jr.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in Grace Chapel Community Church, 4075 Lamor Rd., Hermitage.

A memorial service will be held immediately following at 11 a.m., in the church, with Rev. Aaron Lego, officiating.
