Obituary

Mass of Christian burial is Thursday for Carmella (D'Angelo) Kolbrich of Sharon, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Saturday (2-7-15) in her residence after an extended illness. She was 74. Mrs. Kolbrich was born Sept. 5, 1940 in Petacciato, Italy, a daughter of Giuseppe and Avelina (Nubile) Bruno. She was educated in Italy, where she honed her skill as an accomplished seamstress, and immigrated to the United States in 1958, settling in Farrell. Carmella was employed as a seamstress and men's tailor for J.C.Penney Co. in the Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage, for 25 years, retiring in 2000. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, and its Altar and Rosary Society and the Tuesday morning cavatelli ladies. Carmella was well known for her fabulous cooking and her beautiful flower gardens. She was very considerate of her family and friends and freely gave of her time to help others, even during her illness. Her husband of 26 years, Luigi D'Angelo, passed away on April 19, 1984. Besides her first husband, Carmella was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maria Spinelli. Surviving are her second husband, Nicholas Kolbrich, whom she married Feb. 24, 1996, at home; three daughters, Lucie D'Angelo and her fiancé Carl Wise, Magnolia, Ohio; Michelina Shirey and her husband Steve, York, Pa.; and Lisa Connelly and her husband Christopher, Sharon; a son, Frank L. D'Angelo and his wife Kimberly, Sharon; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Antoinette D'Angelo, Italy; three stepsons, Nicholas Kolbrich and his wife Sharon, Sharpsville; and Kevin and Gregory Kolbrich, both Hermitage; a brother- in-law, Leno Spinelli, Montreal, Quebec, Canada; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Busco and her husband Frank, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, PA 16121. Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (2-11-15) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Services: Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (2-12-15) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant. Interment: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hermitage.
