Obituary

Carmela Perry, formerly a longtime resident of Farrell, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 1, 2018, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she has been a resident for seven years.

Mrs. Perry was born February 20, 1917, in New York City, N.Y., a daughter of the late Vito and Michelina (DeFlorio) D'Ambrosio.  She was raised in Queens, NY, and moved to Farrell with her husband, Sam, shortly after being married.

A homemaker, Carmela devoted her life to caring for her family and their home.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Carmela enjoyed the arts, particularly theatre and musicals. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Her husband of 46 years, Sam A. Perry, whom she married December 29, 1945, passed away January 29, 1992.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Linda Perry; and a son, Samuel J. Perry, both of Farrell; and a sister, Anna D'Ambrosio, Hemstead L.I., NY.

In addition to her parents, Carmela was preceded in death by two sisters, Michelina and Rose D'Ambrosio; and a brother, Gary D'Ambrosio.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Fwy, Hermitage, PA 16148. They would also like to thank the staff of St. John XXIII for their kindness and exceptional care over the last seven years.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (9-5-18) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
