Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday for Carmela R. Mitch of Hermitage who passed away peacefully at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday (11-7-10) in Nugent Convalescent Home after an extended illness. She was 78.
Carmela was born on September 26, 1932 in Greenville, Pennsylvania the daughter of Guissippi and Mary Crago D'Urso.
Mrs. Mitch was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage since it began in 1960 and was active with its catering group and belonged to the Ava Maria society.
Carmela was a familiar face at the Hermitage Wal-Mart where she had been employed as the stores first greeter in 1991, she retired in 2000 after nine years of service. She worked in food services for several local establishments, including the former Sharon Country Club's dietary department, the Sharon Regional Health System's cafeteria and outpatient dietary department, and for the former Eagle's Grille, Hermitage.
Her husband Joseph Mitch, whom she was married to for 37 years, passed away on October 20, 1990.
She leaves her two sons, Joseph W. Mitch Jr. and his wife Janet, Moon Twp; and David W. Mitch and his wife Sherry, Brookfield, Ohio, a daughter, Louise Ann Hall and her husband Nicholas, South Charleston WV; one brother, Gerald Crago, Burlington, NJ. 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leslie 'Margareitta' Dean, and Concetta Perseo, and one brother Dominic D'Urso.
