Carl R. Canady of Greenville passed away at
7:15 a.m.
Saturday, April 16, 2016, in White Cliff Nursing Home, Greenville, following an extended illness.
He was 83.
Mr. Canady was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, a son of Joseph and Florence Jones Canady.
He attended West Middlesex schools and graduated from high school in Cleveland.
Carl served with the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
He was employed at the former General American Transportation Corp., (GATX) Masury, Ohio, for nearly 30 years and retired in 2009 from the Reynolds School District where he worked for twenty years.
Carl was a member of the Reynolds VFW and enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Helene F. Dobert, whom he married in Germany on April 29, 1955 in; two daughters, Diana Cole; and Becky Riley and her husband Doug, all Greenville; three sons, Robert Canady, Hermitage; Ronald Canady, Enola, PA; and Mike Canady, Destin, FL; three grandchildren, Reid, Katie and Michelle; and seven great grandchildren.
He also leaves a sister, Patricia Wagoner, Evans City, PA; and a brother, Jack Canady and his wife Florence, Louisville, KY.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Canady; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Canady; and a son-in-law, Rick Cole.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor's choice.
There are no calling hours.
Private memorial service will be held in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
