Carl J. Bowen, 61, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at 7:24 a.m. Thursday, April 06, 2017, in his residence.

Mr. Bowen was born May 17, 1955, in New Castle, son of the late Carl P. and Gertrude M. Bowen. He was a lifelong area resident and 1973 graduate of New Castle High School.

Carl was employed by Miller Industries, Inc., Hermitage, working as a welder for the past 15 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish.

Carl enjoyed being outdoors and golfing. He cherished the time he spent with his family and will be missed dearly by all.

He married the former, Cheryl Ann Johnson Blashak, on June 1, 2001, and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2011.

Surviving are: a son, Noah P. Bowen, of New Castle; a step-daughter, Amber Blashak, of Erie; eight sisters, Marianna Breeding, Denton, MD, Mary Lou Barud, of Gibsonia, PA; Elaine Hoffman, of New Castle, PA; Mary Kay Fermanich, of Acworth, GA; Patty Bowen-Moore, of Rochester, NY; Mary Elizabeth Bowen, of Milpitas, CA; Mary Jo Northrop; and Mary Therese Rustowich, both of Buffalo, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by: three sisters, Carole Ann Northrop; Mary Margaret Bowen and Mary Rose Bowen; and a brother David John Bowen.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Monday (4-10-17) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday, in the funeral home, with Rev. Frank Almade, pastor of St. Mary's Church, New Castle, officiating.
