Carl Albert Bordy of 40 Cathedral Dr. Farrell, PA. passed away at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Woodland Place in Mercer, PA. He was 64.
Mr. Bordy was born on August 22, 1944 in Sharon the son of Charles and Velma Chomor Bordy.
Carl graduated with honors from Sharon High School. He served four years in the United States Army in their Intelligence Department. Carl was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Carl worked at General American as an Industrial Engineer for twenty years. He previously worked at American Industries.
He is survived by; 4 sisters, Susan and her husband Tom Cornman of Sharon, Marilyn and her husband Dennis Phibbs of Sharpsville, Tempa and her husband Wayne Uhlrich of Columbia, PA, Nancy and her husband Bob Odom of Sterling, VA; 3 brothers, Chuck Bordy of Lancaster, PA, N. Thomas and his wife Janis Barninger of Bainbridge, PA, and Bill Dunlap of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 nieces, Anna Phibbs of Sharpsville, Candice and her husband Todd Prelerson of Akron, OH, Katie Uhlrich of Columbia, PA; 2 nephews, Tom Cornman of Upper Arlington, OH; Mike and his wife Elizabeth Cornman of Sleepy Hollow, IL; 2 great nieces, Jordan Prelerson and Jessica Cornman.
Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his step father, Kenneth Tar; his step mother, Tempa Bordy.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. N. Thomas Barninger.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Middlesex VFW Post 6233.
