Obituary

Calvin J. Beers, Jr. of 476 S. Stateline Rd., Masury, Ohio passed away following an extended illness at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in his home. He was 66.
Mr. Beers was born September 21, 1945 in Fisher, Clarion County, PA a son of Calvin M. Beers, Sr. and Nettie Custer Beers.
He moved to the area as a child and was a graduate of Brookfield High School.
Calvin retired from Alcoa in Warren, Ohio where he was an electrician in the maintenance department for more than twenty years.
He previously worked for 18 years at the former General American Transportation Corporation's Masury plant.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon.
Calvin was a hard working man who enjoyed staying fit. He enjoyed weightlifting, cycling, gardening and maintaining his property. He was also involved with martial arts and judo and a fan of Bruce Lee.
His loving wife, the former Lillie Brannan, whom he married October 23, 1964, passed away June 15, 2009.
Surviving are: two daughters, Christine L. Beers, Masury; and Tina R. Green, Thomson, Georgia; a son, Calvin James Martin Beers, III, Masury; three grandchildren, Calvin James Martin Beers, IV, Randy Alan Green and Austin E. Mann; a great grandson, Zachary Green; two sisters, Ruby Perry, Hadley, PA; and Kathryn Sanders, Sharon; and two brothers, Dale Beers and Barry Beers and his wife Connie, all of Masury.
He also leaves a brother-in-law, Frank Slama, Niles, Ohio; and a God daughter, Magnolia Green, Farrell.
Besides his parents and wife, Calvin was preceded in death by two sisters, May Slama and Elizabeth Ball.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, in the funeral home with the Rev. Adam T. Trambley, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon, officiating.
