C. Donald Reid, 97 Bartholomew Rd., Lackawannock Twp., Mercer, PA passed away at 12:50 p.m. Friday (1-21-11) after a brief illness with cancer. He was 66.
Mr. Reid was born May 24, 1944 in Waynesburg, PA a son of Clarence and Mary Kathryn Haines Reid.
He was a graduate of what is now North Hills High School, Pittsburgh.
A decorated veteran, Don retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy after serving for 23 years. He was stationed in Key West, Ethiopia and Rhode Island and took advance training in communications. Don was extremely proud of his service to his country and was highly respected by his superiors.
He was employed for the past six years as a courier and driver for Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation, Sharon, and previously worked for Carpenter's Auto Repair and Towing in Brookfield and Sharon.
Don enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, tending to his property and genealogy. He also looked forward to the annual week long family camping expedition at Deer Valley YMCA camp in Somerset County. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, particularly with his sons and grandsons who meant so much to him.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Mary Lynn Zuccher, whom he married May 4, 2002; two sons, Donald E. Reid, Canterbury, Connecticut; and Joseph Miles Reid, Pittsburgh; four grandsons, Ryan, Matthew, Eric and Thomas Reid; two sisters, Linda Kelly and her husband James; and Judith Reid; and a brother, Robert Reid and his wife Paula, all of Pittsburgh; three nieces; two nephews; two step-daughters, Jessica Anderton and her husband Nate, Sharon; and Sarah Hernandez and her husband Javier, Nashville, TN; a step-son, Benjamin Zuccher, Hermitage; and his mother-in-law, Jane Sinclair, Valencia, PA.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, East Central Division, Western Region, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205; or to Deer Valley YMCA Camp, 254 Deer Valley Dr., Fort Hill, PA 15540-2131.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday (10-8-09) for John R. 'Jack' Reilly, 830 Fairfield Dr., Hermitage, who passed away of natural causes at 5:18 a.m. Sunday (10-4-09) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 83.
Mr. Reilly was born March 30, 1926 in Sharon, Pa., a son of John and Irene Flynn Reilly.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1944 graduate of Sharon High School. Jack, as he was known by his family and friends, served as a radio operator with the United States Army Air Force during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Jack attended John Carroll University, University Heights, OH, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1951.
Jack was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 37 years and retired in 1985 as the plant manager of the Camp Reynold's division. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working as a funeral directors assistant at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Sharon.
He was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon where he served as an usher for many years at the 10 a.m. Mass.
Jack enjoyed a good round of golf and was a member of several leagues throughout the years, including the Westinghouse Men's retiree's league at Tam O' Shanter Golf Course, Hermitage.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 103; and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 684, both Sharon.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and his greatest joy was the time he shared with his family. A consummate gentleman, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
His wife, the former Sally Grace Tierney, who he married on September 3, 1949 in St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown, Ohio, survives at home. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He also leaves his four children, Sally Coyle, Canfield, OH; John M. Reilly, Susan Kendzor and her husband James; and Daniel Reilly, all of Sharon, PA; seven grandchildren, Kristen Gabriel and her husband Joseph, Lianna Di Pasqua, Jacqueline, John, and Nicholas Reilly, Natalie Becker and her husband Scott, and James W. Kendzor, three great grandchildren, Joseph Michael Gabriel, Tierney Diane Becker, and Nadia Marina Reilly- Bailey; and a sister Jeanne O'Neil and her husband Charles J. O'Neil of Enon Valley, PA and Bonita Springs, FL.
His parents preceded him in death.
