Brian Thomas Rafferty

Brian Thomas Rafferty, 71, of Sharon, previously a longtime resident of Stoneboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Mr. Rafferty was born on March 1, 1955, in the Bronx, NY, a son of the late Raymond W. and Mary M. (O’Rourke) Rafferty. After graduating from Island Trees High School, Levittown, NY, in 1974, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam War.

For the last 15 years, Brian was employed as an owner/operator by Chadderton Trucking, now PI&I Motor Express, Masury, OH. He previously worked for several other trucking companies and, earlier in his life, worked as a police officer in Washington D.C.

Brian was a member of Beloved Disciple Catholic Church in Grove City, PA.

An outdoorsman, he looked forward to hunting and fishing with friends. Brian was also an avid reader, enjoyed playing golf, and was a die-hard New York Yankees fan who didn’t mind rooting for the Jets occasionally.

His wife, Michelle (Sherbondy) Rafferty, whom he married on March 4, 2005, survives at home.

Brian is also survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Osmer (Will), of Fort Myers, FL, and Shawn B. Rafferty, of Kent, OH; a step-son, Clinton Gilmore (Shana), of Oil City, PA; a brother, Dennis Rafferty (Joanie), of Islip, NY; two sisters, Barbara Layden, of Calverton, NY, and Kathleen Drossos, of Levittown, NY; four nephews and a niece, whom he was very close to, Brian and Kevin Layden, and James, Michael and Christine Drossos; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Rafferty; two brothers-in-law, Francis Layden and Nicholas Drossos; and a step-daughter, Katie Lynn Gilmore.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no viewing.

A private memorial service will be held by his family in Calverton, NY.
