Obituary

Brian J. Kachaylo, of Hubbard, Ohio, passed away at 3:14 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2018, in the Hospice House, Poland, Ohio, after a courageous seven year battle with cancer.  He was 46.

Brian was born September 13, 1972, in Sharon, a son of the late Stephen and Vesta (Platt) Kachaylo.  He attended Sharon schools and later graduated from Sharpsville High School.  He was also an honor student at Youngstown State University.

Brian's entire career was in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  He began as an EMT at Gold Cross and McGonigle Ambulance Service's and most recently was a critical care paramedic for STAT MedEvac, which provides air medical transportation for patients.  Brian was an EMS instructor at Butler Community College and served as an EMS coordinator for Mercer and Trumbull Counties.  He was also a Lieutenant firefighter for many years with the Brookfield Fire Department.

Brian attended the Victory Christian Church in Coitsville, Ohio.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and coaching and umpiring for Hubbard Little League baseball teams.  Brian loved his family time.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Christina L. Palmer, whom he married September 10, 1994; a daughter whom he adored, Riley E. Kachaylo, an 8
th grade student at Hubbard Jr. High School; two sisters, Sabrina Dailey, of Hermitage; and Kimberly McCuskey and her husband Steve, of Hubbard; his father- and mother-in-law, Robert B. and Diane L. Palmer, of Mercer; and three brothers-in-law, including Robert Palmer and his wife Tammy, of Mercer.

Besides his parents, Brian was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christa Raylene Kachaylo.

Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Monday, October 22, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
