Blaine C. Short

Blaine C. Short, 91, of New Brighton, PA, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in his home.

Mr. Short was born on January 6, 1935, in Monaca, PA, a son of the late Blaine E. and Marie Olivia (Doctor) Short. He was a 1953 graduate of Monaca High School and was in the Army National Guard as a ground air gunner.

He married his childhood sweetheart, the former Anna Rambo, whom he married on June 22, 1956, passed away on June 11, 2014. The two were inseparable. He and Anna enjoyed riding horses and raised quarter horses. Later, they looked forward to travelling in their RV and fishing.

Blaine was a proud farmer, leatherworker and highly involved in 4H. An avid hunter and shooting enthusiast, he was an accomplished gunsmith, woodworker, and belonged to “SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), the NRA and the Beaver County Pistol Club.

Immediately following his graduation, he began at the former J&L Steel, Alliquippa, as an erection machinist apprentice. He remained with J&L for more than 40 years. Later, he worked at the former Williams House of Metal, Pittsburgh, for almost 15 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Beatty (David), of New Brighton; four grandchildren, Blaine L. Short (Randi), LeeAnna Arnold (Edward), Jamie Deafenbaugh (Shane Ziolkowski), and Cheyenne Beatty (Angel); two step-grandchildren, David Beatty Jr. (Jennifer), and Timothy Beatty (April); ten greatgrandchildren, Paxton, Zephan, Delaney, Johnathan, Faith, Regan, Colton, Jacob, Tanner and Jackson; and four sisters, Jeanne, Linda, Marion, and Elaine.

In addition to his parents and wife, Blaine was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Converse; a granddaughter, Julia Converse; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Brooklyn; and two sisters, Margaret and Elizabeth.

In keeping with Blaine’s wishes, there are no services.
