Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday for Biagio Volpe, 46 Flowers Ave., Sharon, he passed away peacefully of natural causes at 4:05 p.m. Monday in the Intensive Care Unit at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 87. He was born in Salerno, Italy in the Region of Campania, April 24, 1928. He was one of six children born to Costantino and Michelina Erra Volpe. Biagio was raised and educated in Italy and served with Marina Militare; EI (Italian Navy). He immigrated to Canada on February 3, 1961. In July of 1970 he moved to Sharon where he would find employment with the former Sharon Steel Corporation's Farrell Plant. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family, especially during their Sunday dinners at home. He also loved to make wine that he would share with family and friends. His wife the former Sara Anzani whom he married on March 18, 1961, survives at the residence. Also surviving are his three sons, Antonio "Tony" Volpe and his wife Vallorrie, and Augusto "Augie" Volpe, and his wife Linda, of Sharon; and Giuseppe Volpe, Polk, PA; his grandchildren, Giuseppe and Alessandra Volpe, and Austyn Giovanni, and Jordan Volpe, a brother, Augusto Volpe of Castellammare of Campania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Amalia Labanchi, Antonietta Paolillo, Biagina Marini, and one brother, Antonio Volpe.
