Betty Marie Sorbo, of New Castle, passed away peacefully as she was united with her Lord and Savior at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015, in Allegheny General Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 82. Mrs. Sorbo was born March 23, 1933, in New Castle, a daughter of Carl and Bertha (Duncan) Esposito. 0She was a 1952 graduate of Shenango High School and began working as a cashier at Joseph's Market. She retired in March of 1998 from the admission office at Jameson Hospital, New Castle, where she was employed for more than ten years. Betty was a member of the Church of Genesis in Mahoningtown and, along with her husband, she volunteered with the Missions Abroad Placement Services (MAPS), a group that built and restored churches. She was also a member and volunteer of the South Hills Athletic Association. An accomplished seamstress, Betty worked at the former Jo-Ann Fabrics and Betty's Bridal years earlier. She liked the outdoors, camping and hunting with her family; and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. Betty was an exceptional homemaker and also enjoyed cooking and canning. Her husband, John Eugene Sorbo, Sr., whom she married June 10, 1952, passed away August 3, 2012. Surviving are: two daughters, Colleen A. Kullen and her husband Bud, Beaver Falls; and Marilyn L. Mangino and her husband Don, New Castle; a son, John E. Sorbo, Jr., Clarion, PA; nine grandchildren, Daniel Sorbo and his wife Kristen; David Sorbo and his wife Kelly; Vincent and Alannah Sorbo; Girard Kullen and his wife Lauren; Brady Kullen; and Maranda, Mallory and Donnie Mangino; four great grandchildren, Ava, Lilia, Noah and Haylee; two sisters, Connie Esposito, New Castle; and Debbie Bender and her husband Brad, Beaver, PA; three brothers, Cheech Esposito, Bob Esposito and his wife Joyce; and Tony Esposito and his wife Linda, all New Castle; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Esposito; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Esposito. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Susan B.
