Obituary

Betty J. Schultz, 87, formerly of Farrell, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025, in the Ridgewood at Shenango Valley, Hermitage.

Mrs. Schultz was born on September 1, 1937, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Gunesch) Lingner. A lifelong area resident, she was a 1955 graduate of Farrell High School.

Following high school, she began as a receptionist at the Herald, where she was employed for more than 40 years, retiring as the business office manager.

She married her husband, Robert C. Schultz, on August 15, 1966. Betty's beloved "Bobby" passed to the other side of life on June 12, 2005, the same day, 20 years apart. Is such an event a coincidence or divine intervention, Bobby coming for her on the morning of June 12, 2025?

Betty was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon.

She was also a member of The Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons, Cleveland, OH, and a lifetime member of the former Saxon Home, Farrell.

Betty was a loving "Tante" to more than several nieces and nephews, specifically, Terri Galicia; Billie, Matt and David Moyer; Joshua, Andra and Owen Galicia; Michael and John Lingner. She was also blessed with many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Betty is survived by a brother, Richard M. Lingner and his wife Vicki, Brookfield, OH.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Mitzi Zelch; a brother, Michael Lingner; and an uncle, Fritz Gunesch.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Gentiva Hospice, 26 Nesbitt Rd., Suite 200, New Castle, PA 16105.

The family would like to send gratitude to Samantha, Brandi, Cheryl and Jonelle from Ridgewood, and Kyle and Jasmine from Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care given to Betty.

In keeping with Betty's wishes, there are no services.

Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
