Obituary

Betty J. McNutt, 34 Lilac Drive, West Middlesex, Pa. passed away peacefully with her family at her side at 12:10 a.m. Monday (8-8-11) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 88.

She was born July 14, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Clayton and Betty Jones Hassell.

In her early years she worked in downtown Sharon for the former G. C. Murphy's and the former Diamond Men's Store.

A homemaker, she was an active member of the West Middlesex United Methodist Church where she helped with funeral and special event catering. She belonged to the church W.R.A.( Willing, Ready, and Able) organization and helped with the Release Time project designed for after school religious education. She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon, and the Central Christian Church when it too was located in Sharon.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to cook and bake for her family and friends and she also loved gardening and vacationing in West Palm Beach, Fl.

Her husband, Walter S. McNutt Sr. whom she married in November of 1946, passed away in January of 1969.

She leaves her two daughters, Carolyn Falvo, Hermitage, Connie Taub and her husband Lloyd, Stafford, VA, four sons, Walter Scott McNutt Jr., with whom she made her home, David A. McNutt, Uhrichsville, OH, Clayton McNutt, Columbus, OH, and Timothy K. McNutt and his wife Eman, West Palm Beach, Florida; a brother, Clayton Hassell, Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Lonnie Taub, Dr. Nicole Oxley, Minister Michelle Falvo, Shane and Corey McNutt, and Tyler McNutt; five great grandchildren, Demetrius, Jaylan, and Liana Taub, and Nathan and Joshua McNutt.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Vivian McGill, Dorothy Salaciak, and Laverne Jones.

In lieu of floral tributes, her family suggests that Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Youngstown Chapter, 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite 301 B. Canfield, Ohio 44406.

Calling hours: from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday (8-11-11) in the West Middlesex United Methodist Church, 3123 Main St West Middlesex.
