Betty J. Lutton, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully at
3:00 a.m.
Thursday, June 2, 2016
, in her residence.
She was 93.
Mrs. Lutton was born September 3, 1922, in Sharon, a daughter of Russell and Ruth Price Jones. She was raised in Brookfield.
Betty was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation during WW II and was a substitute school teacher in Shadyside, MD for a brief period.
Her husband of 73 years, Melvin Lutton, whom she married August 3, 1942, was a 25 year employee of IBM and therefore moved frequently. They relocated to Hermitage ten years ago to reside at Whispering Oaks.
Besides her husband, Melvin, she is survived by two daughters, Melva Jayne Lutton, Columbus, Ohio; and Jean Ruth Harris and her husband John "Jack," Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Henry Lutton, Jennifer Worden, Joel Harris and his wife Joy; and Joshua Harris and his wife Kate; 6 great grand-children; a great- great- grandson; and a sister, Margaret Pegge Clark, of Hermitage.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donors choice.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 , in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, in the funeral home. Interment: Brookfield Twp. Cemetery.
