Betty Jeanne Darby

Betty Jeanne Darby, 90, of Hermitage, passed away Monday morning, August 10, 2026, in St. John XXIII Home.

Mrs. Darby was born on February 28, 1936, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Vincent and Jeanette (Miller) Frederick, and attended Hickory High School.

A highly talented designer, Betty worked as a florist at Kraynak’s for 37 years, retiring in 2014.

Betty was extremely family-oriented; she loved being with her children and grandchildren. She was a talented baker and cook, making countless meals for friends and family. She also looked forward to spending time at the family camp in Tionesta, PA.

Betty was a member of the Neshannock Alliance Church, West Middlesex, where she was active in the Women’s Missions Group.

Her husband of 67 years, Leonard Howard Darby, whom she married on April 4, 1952, passed away on November 2, 2019.

She is survived by three daughters, Janet Campbell and Charlie, of Sharpsville, Beth Ann Butterfield, of New Wilmington, and Lori Carnahan and her husband, Rick, of Hubbard, OH; three sons, Leonard Darby and his wife, Karen, of Tionesta, PA, Robert Darby and his wife, Diane, of Hermitage, and Walter Darby and his wife, Lori, also of Hermitage; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Thomas Frederick, of Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to her parents and Husband, Betty was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Bacon; two sisters, Dorothy Marshall and Marge Mogle; and two brothers, Jack Kruisselbrink and Vincent Frederick.

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff at St. John XXIII Home and Steel City Hospice for their exceptional care of their mother.
