Betty Ellen "Bubba" Costello, of West Middlesex, PA, passed away peacefully at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the ICU at Sharon Regional Health Systems with her family and friends by her side. She was 90.
She was born October 25, 1921, in Sharon, a daughter of James and Mildred Zedaker Stewart.
A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Sharon High School.
A dedicated homemaker, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles and crafts, she also loved to play 500 and euchre with her brothers and sister on Wednesday night, and earlier in life she played cards with a group of friends that called themselves "Gradale". Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
Her first husband, Bill Phythyon whom she married just prior to him leaving to serve his country during World War II, was killed in action. Her second husband, John Costello, passed away in 1970.
She is survived by 4 children, Carol and her husband Alex Rueberger of Sharpsville, PA, Jeff Costello and his fianc Tina Capozzoli of Masury, OH, Greg Costello of Sharon, PA and Patricia and her husband Bruce Mattson with whom Betty made her home in West Middlesex. 2 sisters, Nancy Bush of Cortland, OH and Donna Spadin of Maryland; 2 brothers, Paul and Bob Stewart both of Sharon; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by a very dear friend Mike Breznak of West Middlesex, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 husbands.
