Betty Ann Cole, Hermitage, went home to the Lord at 2 p.m. Tuesday (8-30-11) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 75.
Mrs. Cole was born June 6, 1936 in Sharon a daughter of the late John Clyde and Ann Battyanyi Blair.
She was a graduate of Mercer High School and worked in retail as a clerk for ten years at local stores.
Betty was a devout Christian and a member of the 700 Club and Cornerstone Church. Her favorite song was Blessed Assurance and she believed in Corinthians 5: 6-8, 'To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord'. Betty was a wonderful cook and baker. She also loved to sew, crochet, read and travel. Betty has traveled to the Caribbean Islands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and throughout the United States. She was a staunch supporter for the Easter Seals and the American Heart Association for many years.
Her husband, William Leon Cole, whom she married September 25, 1954, passed away November 21, 1977. He was a WW II veteran and one of the eight Sharon Steel workers whose portrait was painted by Norman Rockwell.
A beloved mother, she is survived by her three children, Karen Holderfield and her husband Jeff, Colorado; William John Cole, Hermitage; and Deanne Palmer and her husband Wayne, Pennsylvania; a sister, Janet Piciacchio, Hermitage; and a brother, John Blair and his wife Mary Jo, Florida. She also leaves two aunts, Margaret Gasparich, Sharon; and Elizabeth Krauss, Grove City; an uncle, Joe Battyanyi and his wife Elizabeth, Transfer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and grand nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by three uncles, James, Louis and Stephen Battyanyi; and four aunts, Julia Kaye, Mary Gargano, Rose Krauss and one who died in infancy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Care Center or Hospice and Palliative Care, both of Sharon Regional Health System, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to the time of service on Friday (9-2-11) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

A private funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday (9-2-11) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Geraldine Williams, Chaplain of Sharon Regional Health System, officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
