Obituary
Betsy J. Ohlin of Petersburg, Ohio passed away under hospice care at 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016, in her residence, after an extended illness. She was 77.
Mrs. Ohlin was born March 2, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Leonard and Mildred (Wellendorf) Goist. She moved to New Springfield at age two and was a 1957 alumna of Springfield High School.
After attending beauty and cosmetology school, Betsy worked as a beautician in Youngstown for five years before opening a shop in her home. She retired in 1993.
Betsy was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, New Middletown, Ohio, and its Altar Guild. An exceptional homemaker, she loved to cook and was an accomplished seamstress.
She also enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club in New Middletown.
Betsy's happiest times were with her family. She loved antiquing with her husband, vacations with her family and attending her grandchildren's numerous sporting events and extracurricular activities. Her grandchildren, whom she adored, brought great joy to her life.
Surviving are: her husband, David L. "Butch" Ohlin, whom she married August 26, 1961, in St. Paul the Apostle Church; a daughter, Heather J. Bradford and her husband Todd, Statesville, NC; two sons, David J. Ohlin and his wife Donna, Petersburg, Ohio; and L. Scott Ohlin and his wife Sherry, Copley, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Mac and Hadley Bradford; David, Ryan and Evan Ohlin; and Logan and Parker Ohlin.
She also leaves a sister, Sally Cunningham and her husband Ralph, Bessemer, PA; a brother, Richard Goist and his wife Jan, Warren, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leonard and Ted Goist; and her father- and mother-in-law, Louis and Pauline Ohlin.
Betsy's family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their tender care during this difficult time.

Family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday (10-22-16) in St. Paul the Apostle Church Day Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Chris Luoni, pastor, as celebrant.
