Obituary

Betsy L. Barner, a two year resident of St. John XXIII Home, formerly of Wakefield Dr., both Hermitage, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness.  She was 79.

Mrs. Barner was born November 10, 1939, in Sharon, a daughter of the late John Francis and Louise (Ague) McKee.  She was a lifelong area resident and a 1957 graduate of Hickory High School.

A homemaker, Betsy was a former member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Barner, whom she married May 7, 1971; a daughter, Connie L. Benes and her husband Steve, of Hermitage; two sons, Bradford W. Ser and his wife Shannon, of Canton, GA; and Mark D. Barner and his wife Jennifer, of Hermitage; a step-son, Scott A. Barner and his wife Lisa, of Southington, CT; five sisters, Janice E. DeJulia and her husband Matthew, of Hermitage; Gail A. Kennedy and her husband Tedford, of Hermitage; Darlene M. Bonaquist and her husband James, of Clinton Township, MI; Shelia M. Wareham and her husband James, of Lynchburg, VA; and Lisa M. DeBonis and her husband Emil, of Brookfield, OH; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Patton; Jordan (Emily) Benes; Billy, Austin and Jackson Ser; and Olivia and Haley Barner; two step-grandchildren, Katie and Alexandra Barner; and 3 great grandchildren, Linnea and Vaughn Patton; and Graham Benes.

Besides her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by a brother, John McKee; and her step-father, Leonard Zimmer.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Calling hours will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, November 17, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home.

Interment: America's Cemetery, Hermitage.
